Purchasing manager will be responsible for over seeing the division purchasing team  and  department functions. Establishing relationships with  sales, operations, transportation and human resources departments to execute company goals. Maintaining and developing relationships with vendors. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to managing the departments pereformance in the following functions:


• Product sourcing
• Program implementation
• Vendor relationship management.
• Negotiate competitive quality and pricing at all-times.
• Manages the tracking of vendor performance in the areas of fill rates, rejections, timeliness.
• Solicit ad items and establish lid pricing.
• Product turn and trend analysis.
• Sustain service level goals.
• Coordinate inbound freight logistics.
• Develop departmental and individual goals.
• Partner with all departments to help resolve customer concerns.
• Lead weekly department meetings.
• Identify metrics and measure progress for future efficiencies.
• Attend division management meetings to report performance and opportunities.
• Conduct department needs assesment and  create a plan to develop team.
• Partner with HR to manage any employee relation concerns that may arise.
• Ensure proper staffing and onbaording of staff.
• Conduct introductory and annual performance reviews.
• Ensure coverage of department based on business necessity.
• Coordinate and fill in for vacations and any unscheduled time off.
• Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.


Peripheral Duties: 
• Support and implement food safety, workplace safety  and quality assurance initiatives
• Support and implement the company’s initiatives to promote positive employee morale and team building.





• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
• 5 years of FOB procurement experience in the wholesale produce industry, preferred
• 3 years minimum of management experience, including employee relations, conflict resolution and employee development.
• Knowledge of product quality, market and growing conditions.
• Proven vendor relationship and negotiating skills, must possess tact, diplomacy and firmness in vendor negotiation.
• Knowledge of Transportation/Logistics to monitor the delivery of commodities.
• Knowledge of USDA inspection process and billing.
• Strong Mathematical skills: Use basic arithmetic, algebra and statistics in daily computations and problem solving.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidate must able to communicate with all levels of management internally and externally. 
• Proficient Computer Skills: Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, 10 key.
• Knowledge of computer information systems preferred: Bosanova/Retalix and Sequel (training provided), Sequel/Dashboards, Doc link and AS 400. Must manage commodities utilizing demand & inventory information systems.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours and days.
